Restoring historical instruments is a key part of my work. As well as preserving the physical structure, reproducing the original sound is just as vital. Of course, the challenge of eliciting music from a piano that may well have been played by Mozart or Mendelssohn himself is an added bonus!

To ensure that restoration is performed to the very highest standards, I painstakingly research the original materials used, including strings, leather, wood and glue. Moreover, restoring historical instruments is a valuable source of insight when it comes to building new reproductions.

Preserving musical instruments and ensuring they function properly is an essential part of my work.
My focus is on restoring the instrument—regardless of its type or price range—so that it delivers a compelling sound and playing experience.
